School officials say proposed budget will hurt local district

As members of the General Assembly are considering a budget proposal submitted by Governor Matt Bevin (House Bill 200), school leaders are trying to gauge the fiscal impact it may have on Butler County Schools.

MPD makes drug arrest

According to Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor on January 31, 2018, Morgantown City Police received a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious car on Festival Drive. Morgantown City Police made contact with the driver Brandon Johnson and two passengers, Alicia Brown and Matthew Watts. Johnson was found with two used needles and a small baggy of methamphetamine.

Morgantown receives CDBG grant for $237,700 to renovate city hall

Morgantown City Hall will soon be getting a pretty extensive facelift - one to the tune of $237,700.  That is the amount the city will be receiving through a Community Development Block Grant from the Kentucky Department of Local Government.

Historic Number of Lives Saved Thanks to Organ Donation

2017 was a groundbreaking year in national and local efforts to save lives through organ donation.  In the Kentucky region, 2017 marked the second highest number of lives saved.  Thanks to 108 heroic organ donors and their families, 361 organs were recovered and transplanted.  330 tissue donors healed thousands of patients.

State releases county unemployment data for December 2017; Butler at 3.9 percent

FRANKFORT--- Unemployment rates fell in 117 Kentucky counties, stayed the same in two (Estill and Hickman counties) and rose in one county (Bath County) between December 2016 and December 2017, according to the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics (KCEWS), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.   

Butler County's unemployment rate is at 3.9 percent.
