The Butler County Stockman’s Association will hold their annual livestock sale on Saturday March 10^th 2018 at 1:00 p.m.  The sale will be held at the Eva J. Hawes Ag.

I am Kevin Jay Phelps, Republican candidate for 2nd District Magistrate. I have lived in Butler County for most of my life. I have been married to Debi Hartis Phelps for 43 years, and we have lived and raised our family in Butler County. Debi has worked at Butler County Farm Bureau since 1991. We live on Jack Orange Rd where we farm cattle and hay.  We have three children, Brandon, Bryan, and Courtney.  Brandon is married to Pam Tomes Phelps, Brandon works at ARC and Pam works at Dr. Hammads.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 17 individuals on February 19, 2018. Charges include drug trafficking, theft, rape, sexual abuse and stalking. All arraignments are set for March 13, 2018 at 10:00 am.

The cost of food in America remains affordable.  According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, American consumers spend, on average, just over 10 percent of their disposable income for food.  That means the average household will have earned enough disposable income-that portion of income available for spending or saving to pay for its annual food supply in about seven weeks, said Kentucky Farm Bureau president Mark Haney. 

 The Butler County School Board of Education held its regularly scheduled meeting on February 12^th at the Education Complex. All board members were in attendance.  Dr. Amy Hood opened the meeting to approve the agenda and approve last month’s January 9^th minutes.

Auburn, KY (February 15, 2018)- On Thursday morning at 9:45 hours, the Auburn Police Department contacted Kentucky State Police Post 3, Bowling Green, requesting assistance with a bank robbery, which had occurred at The Auburn Bank and Trust Banking Company

According to Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor, on Monday, February 12, 2018, officers with the Morgantown Police Department while traveling on Dave Gaskey Lane recognized Ricky Shane Henderson age 37 of Morgantown as having an active warrant. With Mr. Henderson at the time of his arrest was Earl Wayne Dotson age 35 also of Morgantown. Mr Dotson was subsequently found to be in possession of a variety of weapons as well as suspected meth.

Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Reneer observed a Ford F150 crossing the fog line several times in the north bound lane of the William Natcher Parkway on Sunday night, February 11.  Upon activating emergency lights, the driver, Marion Miller of Morgantown (DOB 4/21/53), continued northbound for approximately one-fourth mile before pulling over.  Upon contact, a strong smell of alcohol came from vehicle and Miller had slurred speech.  Miller was unsteady on his feet and would not follow directions to perform a field sobriety test.  An open “Four Loko Sour Apple” alcoho
