Butler County Magistrate Stevie Givens elected to KMCA Board of Directors

The Kentucky Magistrates & Commissioners Association, headquartered in Frankfort, Kentucky held its annual election of officers and directors last week at the association’s annual meeting.

Award Winning Program at Butler County Jail

With the purpose of promoting inmate safety and awareness, in addition to reducing recidivism, a new program has been implemented at the Butler County Jail.  According to Butler County Jailer Ricky Romans, the jail is partnering with Hope Harbor, a sexual trauma recovery center, to empower and support anyone impacted by sexual trauma.  The program locally - "From Survive to Thrive" -is consistent with the goals of federal legislation contained in the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act, and works exclusively with female inmates.  Butler County Jail Class D Coordinator Tara McMillan is heading

Butler County well represented at Celebration of Arts Show

 The 32nd Annual U. S. Bank Celebration of the Arts show at the Kentucky Museum in Bowling Green drew more than 180 entries from a 65-mile radius. Featured in the exhibition were works by Butler Countians:  Kim Spradlin Hanna, Sam Hunt, Mike Ingram, and Moksha Sommer in various categories.

BCMS Students Take Top Awards at WKU Bridge Building Competition

On Saturday, March 2nd, bridge builders from around the region gathered for the 24th annual bridge building competition.  The event was held at Ogden Hall on the Western Kentucky University Campus in Bowling Green.  This year's competition featured three area schools and 21 qualifying contestants.  Nine students from Butler County Middle School entered bridges in the middle school division.

MPD makes drug arrest on North Main Street

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, the Morgantown Police was assisting probation and parole officers on North Main Street. Through investigation, suspected methamphetamine was found inside the home.

Give to the 'Ag Tag' Fund to Invest in the Future of Kentucky Agriculture

 “Deep roots grow leaders” is the theme of this year’s Ag Tag campaign to raise funds to invest in organizations building the leaders of tomorrow. Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles stopped by Butler County on Wednesday afternoon to promote the Ag Tag campaign.

William H. Natcher Parkway visibly designated as Interstate 165

 

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (March 6, 2019) – A project to officially change the designation of the William H. Natcher Parkway to an interstate spur begins today. Crews will install new interstate shield signs along 72 miles of the William H. Natcher Parkway to now read as Interstate 165.
