A Section Waverly School Road Set for Long-Term Closure for Bridge Rehab Project

UPDATE: The Waverly School Road Bridge Project has been delayed a week. The closure is expected to take place on April 8.

The bridge over Little Bull Creek will close next week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (March 28, 2019) –  Waverly School Road in Butler County is expected to be closed at the bridge over Little Bull Creek beginning Monday, April 1. The closure is necessary to rehab the bridge to improve its condition and is expected to reopen in late May. This bridge project is part of the Bridging Kentucky Program.

United Way of Southern Kentucky collects record breaking number of items for "Feed the Need" for Local Food Banks

United Way of Southern Kentucky (UWSK) has collected a record breaking more than 137,200 items so far as of March 26th in a region wide food drive titled “Feed the Need” across Allen, Barren, Butler, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties. This represents a more than 

37,000 item increase in donations from what was collected last year and the most that the drive has collected in any one year since it began

MEETING: Butler County Fiscal Court

Butler County Fiscal Court meet in regular session on Monday, March 11th at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance:  Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill and Dillon Bryant.

The court presented the insurance reimbursement for Engine 50 to the Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $150,670.

MEETING: Butler County Board of Education

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex. Board members Ryan Daugherty, Debbie Hammers, Delbert Johnson, and Aimee Sanders were in attendance. Dr. Amy Hood was unable to attend.

District Finance Officer Eric Elms presented the February treasurer’s report. The beginning balance in February was $1,997,741.98. The end-of-the-month balance was $1,944,419.70.

FBLA students attend regional conference; several students recognized

The Region 2 FBLA Conference was held Friday, March 15, at Western Kentucky University.

Mr. Hildabrand and Mr. Miller was recognized as Outstanding Region 2 Advisers for Region 2 FBLA.  

Ms. Wanda Nevins was recognized Business Person of the Year.

Heritage Animal Hospital moves to a new location

After 25 years in business just off Main Street, Heritage Animal Hospital has moved to a new location just down the road and into a brand new facility.  Located at 51 Parkway Lane in front of the new site of the UK Extension Services (old Pamida building), Heritage opened for business officially at its new location on Monday, March 4.
