ATC Students Sign with SKY FAME

Tristan Phelps, Justin Elms, and Duane Daniels

Butler County ATC students sign a deal with SKYFAME and local Industry. Three Industrial Maintenance students qualified for the SKYFAME program and secured jobs at Delta Faucet in Morgantown and Fritz Winter in Franklin. Duane Daniel and Justin Elms will be sponsored by Delta Faucet. Tristan Phelps will be sponsored by Fritz Winter.

McConnell files bill to raise legal age to buy tobacco products to 21, with some provisions Kentucky health advocates wanted

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell today introduced his promised bill to raise to 21 from 18 the legal age to buy tobacco products in the United States, in response to what he called a public-health epidemic of electronic-cigarette use by teenagers.

Butler County Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 47 individuals on May 14, 2019. Charges include attempted theft, drug trafficking, burglary, and possession of methamphetamine.

Four BCHS Students attend Valparaiso University Chinese Talent Competition

On May 4, 2019, four students from Butler County High School, Faith Morris, Emily Tyree, Matthew Johnson, and Bodie Hammer, garnered SECOND PLACE IN TALENT SHOW, THE 12TH ANNUAL MIDWEST CHINESE BRIDGE COMPETITION held in Valparaiso University, Indiana.

2019 Morgantown Bank and Trust Scholarship Awards Night

Morgantown Bank and Trust hosted the four scholarship winners at the Data Center on Thursday afternoon. Winners include:

Julia Bonilla – Student of Butler County High School – 3.96 GPA, she plans to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene with a minor in Spanish from WKU, this year alone she has been an officer in four different clubs and received over 500 hours of community service.  Member of the band from 2011-2019.

Morgantown launches "More Like Home" campaign

"More like Home" is the newest campaign by the city of Morgantown.  Mayor Billy Phelps shared a video produced by the city at the recent Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce luncheon.  The new Morgantown Shuttle and the city bicycles were also on display.

"We are excited about 2019 and the changes happening in Morgantown," said Mayor Phelps.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR 2019 Silver Tea

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR held their annual Silver Awards Tea on Tuesday, April 30 at the Butler County Education Complex. Many parents and other relatives came to see the students recognized for their achievements. The program began with a welcome from Chapter Regent Jane Smith and devotional by Chaplain Peggy Drake. The pledge to the flag was then led by Flag chair Lynda O’Driscoll.

Vehicle, boat and wooden sign involved in Aberdeen accident

Jessica Hendrick, of Caneyville, was pulling out onto Caneyville Road from Graham Central Station at 1940 Caneyville Road in a 2009 Ford Fusion.   David Summers of Morgantown was traveling northbound on Caneyville Road in a 2001 Ford F-150 pulling a fishing boat.
