(LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 25, 2019) – During this year’s season of giving, one easy way to give the gift that can’t be found under the tree is to join the Kentucky Donor Registry as a potential organ and tissue donor.  Registering as a donor costs nothing, takes less than a minute, and gives hope to so many children and adults who are awaiting a transplant.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is asking the community to be on the lookout for thieves stealing copper wiring from KYTC lighting around the District 3 area.

On November 19th, Morgantown Police Department Officer Ronald Cox observed an individual with an active warrant driving on Rochester Road/KY 70.  When Officer Cox attempted to stop the vehicle, the individual failed to stop, leading to a short vehicle pursuit before the suspect stopped and fled on foot. 

Kentucky Education Commissioner Wayne Lewis says he likely could not work with an all-new state board of education that Gov.-elect Andy Beshear is promising to appoint. Lewis said he won’t resign in the short term, but would likely leave his post in time.

Some state legislators want to end the practice of changing clocks twice a year.

Blackhawk Aerospace Composites celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 19th, at their facility on West Morrison Street in Morgantown. They opened their doors in 2009 in the 38,000-plus square-foot building.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 19 individuals on November 12, 2019. Arraignment date is December 12, 2019. Charges include drugs, sexual abuse, rape, and theft.

On Monday, November 18th at approximately 1800 hours, Officers with the Morgantown Police Department assisted Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife with a traffic stop at N. Main and W. Morrison. The vehicle was operating with no headlamps illuminated and both occupants were found to have had outstanding warrants for their arrests.

Veterans, their families, students, and community leaders gathered on Monday, November 11, at the Butler County High School gymnasium as part of a community Veterans' Day program.

Butler County Fiscal Court met in a called meeting on Tuesday, November 12th, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.
