I-65 Welcome Center closed for demolition and reconstruction; Estimated project completion in fall 2020

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 1, 2020) – State agencies have announced the Simpson County Welcome Center, built in 1974 and located at the zero mile marker on I-65 in southern Kentucky, is closing Jan. 2 for demolition and reconstruction with the new facility expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.

Butler County Betterment Program recognizes first to complete Career Readiness

The Butler County Fiscal Court, at its August meeting, approved an agreement between the South-Central Workforce Board and the Butler County Jail. The goal is to reduce recidivism and enable certain Class D state inmates to begin preparing for life after jail by placing them in programs that will allow them to improve work skills.

MPD: Drug Arrest on Brownsville Road

On Monday December 16 at approximately 10:00pm Morgantown Police Officer Nathan Barks observed a Silver Dodge Ram 1500 driving recklessly and attempted to make a traffic stop near Aberdeen Grocery.  The operator of the vehicle failed to yield and a brief pursuit ensued.  The operator lost control of the vehicle after turning onto Brownsville Road from Caneyville Road.

Butler County Schools' Supt. Scott Howard announces retirement after 30 years in public education; to step down June 30, 2020

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 at the Butler County Educational Complex.  Amy Hood, Delbert Johnson, Debbie Hammers, Aimee Sanders, and Ryan Daugherty were the board members present. The meeting was chaired by Superintendent Scott Howard, who made headlines with the announcement of his upcoming retirement as superintendent.

KY Road Scholars & Road Masters Honored

(Lexington, KY – December 9, 2019)   The Technology Transfer Program of the Kentucky Transportation Center is proud to announce that 127 Roads Scholars and 189 Road Masters have completed the 2019 Kentucky Roads Scholars/Road Masters Training Programs.   

The following recipient, who consented to this announcement, joins the 3,638 Roads Scholars and 2,742 Road Masters who have already completed the program. 

Honored December 5th in Falls of Rough was Joseph Foster, KDOH District 3 as a Roads Scholar.

Morgantown Christmas Parade 2019 Edition

The 2019 Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade was a success. Saturday was a beautiful day, and the parade did not disappoint. Morgantown was packed with spectators as Santa came to town. Morgantown Bank & Trust president Tom Jones served as emcee for the 80 plus entries. The Morgantown Police Department and the Butler County Sheriff's Department lead the parade through town.
