The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, February 24th, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

WARREN RECC EXPERIENCES OUTAGES FROM OVERNIGHT STORM

 

March 3, 2020 (Bowling Green, KY) A strong spring storm that rolled through the Warren RECC territory overnight caused widespread power outages. Strong lightning and winds caused several broken poles and downed power lines, primarily in Warren County, but extending into Simpson and Butler Counties. In addition to difficult weather conditions locally, the tornado that swept through Nashville affected TVA assets that also serve Warren RECC.

Coronavirus: What Can You Do?

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) told Americans to start preparing for the spread of the coronavirus. The CDC states that the best and easiest thing you can do to prevent the spread of the coronavirus is wash your hands!

The CDC does not recommend wearing a facemask to prevent the coronavirus. Only people who have the coronavirus or are showing symptoms should wear a facemask. Wearing a facemask protects others from infection.

Tourism Commission provides funds for 2020 Catfish Festival, Green River Museum & Rochester Park

The Butler County Tourism Commission met on February 18th at the Butler County Courthouse. Chairman Roger Southerland determined a quorum was present and presided over the meeting. The minutes and the treasurer's report were approved.

Three groups presented reports to the Commission and requested funding.

Jenkins retires from Butler County Ambulance Service

After Dwight Jenkins and his wife, Allison, get back from their two weeks vacation to Cancun, he is going to buy a fishing pole.  He doesn't hunt or fish, but said it would be nice to throw a line in the water at Lake Nolin, where he and his wife have a house.

MPD: DUI Driver runs into China One Buffet

The Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had struck the front of a local business, China One Buffet, causing severe property damage, and then left the scene.

Gerald Dewayne Morse, age 63 of Morgantown was located soon after and arrested for DUI, Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
