Edwin Earl Henderson

Edwin Earl Henderson, 99 of Sugar Grove, Ky. passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a Butler County native, son of the late Jess and Ellar Paige Henderson. He was a member of Marrs Hill Church of Christ in Bowling Green, Ky. and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by one brother Roscoe Henderson and one sister Pernie Deel.

Helen Vernell Brown,  of Morgantown, Ky. died Friday, November 4, 2011 in Warren County. The Butler County Native was born June 16, 1940. She was a homemaker and Member of Union Baptist Church and the Busy Bee Homemakers. Helen had a love for hand quilting and puzzles. She was the daughter of the late Reno Brown and Lena Mae Tyree.

Funeral Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home. Visitation begins at  2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Thomas Ray Phelps

Thomas Ray Phelps, age 75  of Rockvale, Ky died at his residence on Thursday, November 3, 2011. He was born in Aberdeen, KY on October 16, 1936, the son of the late Roy Lee and Florence Belle Whitaker Phelps. Tom was a very active member of Macedonia Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher for over 45 years and involved with several church mission trips. He was an Army veteran, serving 3 years of active duty and 7 years in the reserves.

Frederick W. “Freddie” McKenney , 58 of Philpot, Ky. passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System, in Owensboro, Ky. He was a Butler County native and son of the late William Calvin and Phyllis Fenoseff McKenney. Freddie was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, Cassia Lodge #272 and retired from Ken Surface Mines in Beaver Dam, Ky. Preceded in death by one sister Selena Faith and one niece Tara Faith.

Charlie Ray Porter, Sr.,  of Morgantown, Ky. died  Sunday, October 23, 2011 in Butler Co. The Butler County native was born July 9, 1941 He was a former Crane Operator and bridge builder. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and member of the Cassia Masonic Lodge # 272. He was the son of  the Late Barna Clay Porter, Sr. and Violet Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Son Timothy Ray Porter, and Brothers: Clay and Danny Porter.
Funeral Service  is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home. Visitation begins at  2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jackie Dale Jessup  75 of Greenville, KY. died Thursday afternoon October 20, 2011 at 4:56 p.m. in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital emergency room in Greenville.  Jackie was born in Earlington, Ky. the son of James Jessup and Virginia Ford Jessup.  He was a farmer and a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member of  Vernal Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Depoy, Ky. and Jackie was a Minister of Music at 7 churches in 5 counties for 35 years.
