Kentucky County Clerks Association Update on KAVIS System

Frankfort, KY— January 23, 2024 —Throughout January, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has been converting from its legacy motor vehicle system implemented in the late 1970’s, known as AVIS to a modern system known as KAVIS. This conversion has not gone as smoothly as hoped. The Kentucky County Clerks Association ask for our motor vehicle customers’ patience as we work with the Transportation Cabinet to resolve the issues at hand.

Committee approves wrongful conviction compensation bill

House Majority Whip Jason Nemes, R-Middletown, testifies on House Bill 178 before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The bill would allow wrongfully convicted Kentuckians the ability to seek compensation.

Kentuckians who were wrongfully convicted of a crime may soon be eligible to receive monetary compensation from the state.

Bill to expand KEES funds for homeschooled students advances

Senate Majority Whip Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green, testifies Thursday on Senate Bill 7, which would allow homeschooled students to receive Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship awards.

The Senate Education Committee advanced a measure Thursday that would allow homeschooled students to receive Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship funds for attending college.

BC Schools plan NTI Day #4 for Friday

Butler County Schools have announced that Friday, January 19, will be NTI Day 4 for the district.  There will be no in-person classes tomorrow in the Butler County School District.  

Additional snow and some sleet fell on Thursday afternoon and frigid temperatures have kept much of that snow on many roads and bus routes throughout the county.  

Elementary students have been given NTI work via paper assignments.  Middle and high school students are primarily accessing work through Google Classroom.

A much-anticipated winter storm moved into south-central Kentucky on Sunday evening, January 14, and left approximately 2.5 inches of snow in many places.

MCR van crashes into doctor's office - no injuries reported

Thursday, January 11, began as a normal day in Dr. Todd Cohron's ophthalmology  office but ended up as anything but ordinary.  The office is located on G. L. Smith Street in Morgantown.
