Stop the Landfill event raises over $17K

Many in the community pulled together as Butler County High School was packed Saturday night for a Stop the Landfill event.  Those in attendance enjoyed music, food, fellowship, cakewalks, auctions and more.

KDE to unroll new 5-star accountability system Tuesday

The Kentucky Department of Education's 2018-19 school and student assessment scores will be available to the public on Tuesday in the form of a new five-star accountability system.

Kentucky Commissioner of Education Wayne Lewis said in a recent op-ed that the five-star system will provide families in the commonwealth with a "new and more transparent way to understand how their children's schools are performing."

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, September 23, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

MPD & BCSD make joint arrests

On September 18th, Officer Ronald Cox, with the Morgantown Police Department, received a drug complaint involving two individuals. Through a joint investigation with the Butler County Sheriff's Office, Officer Cox attempted to stop the vehicle after disregarding a stop sign. After losing sight with the car, Deputy Chris Reneer, with the Butler County Sheriff's Office, made contact the vehicle which resulted in a high-speed pursuit. The pursuit ended near the 1700 block of Russellville Rd where the car stopped.

The Morgantown City Council met in regular session on Thursday, September 12th at the Eva J. Hawes Building. All council members were in attendance: Dustin Embry, Sharon Johnson, Dionne Merritt, Russell Givens, Jason Gaskey, and Sterling White.
