William Carson Turner

William Carson Turner, aged 89, departed this world to attend Easter Sunrise in Heaven on  Sunday, March 31, 2024. He passed peacefully with his son, daughter, and grandson at his bedside after a brief illness. He was born Billy Carson Turner in McHenry, Kentucky, to Bertie  Allen and Estella Pearl (Embry) Turner on July 21, 1934. He lived in Welchs Creek, KY. Bill had  a career as a tooling engineer with General Electric. After retirement, he and his wife left  Frankfort and returned to their beloved Butler County roots.

Bill left home when he was 15 years old and went to work in Louisville. He joined the U.S. Army  when he was 17 years old. He served two years in Germany and France and six in the Inactive  Reserves. He married his lifetime sweetheart, Jerldean Embry, on December 19, 1955. They  had a relationship to be admired, always putting eachother first and working together. They told  stories of early life where they rented completely furnished apartments because they started  married life with nothing. They enjoyed the simple things in life, and when you saw one, you saw  the other. They had three children: William Richard Turner, Steven Allen Turner, and Cynthia  Lynn (Turner) Howe. Their lifetime dream was to retire early and enjoy life, family, and horses on  their farm in Butler County, Kentucky. Sadly, fate allowed them only to enjoy about a year of  retirement together before Jerldean passed away at 54 years old. It was during this time that  William, devastated by this loss, turned his eyes toward heaven, accepted Christ as his Savior,  and was baptized. He was a member of Oak Ridge General Baptist Church in Morgantown, Ky.

He was a man of integrity; his word was his bond. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather,  and great-grandfather. He enjoyed woodworking, country life, and Tennessee Walking Horses.  He is survived by his son, Steven Allen (Nichole) Turner of Scottsville, KY, and daughter,  Cynthia Lynn (Michael) Howe of Bowling Green, Ky. He is also survived by five grandchildren:  Amanda Turner, Michael Chadwick Howe, Rebecca (Kyle) Brooks, Carson Howe, and Kimberly

Turner. He is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Aliza Turner, Kinlee, Remi, and Baby Boy  Howe, Ava, Anniston, and Adley Brooks. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and  cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jerldean Turner, son Richard Turner, grandson  Richard A. Turner, and brothers Robert G. Turner and Edward A. Turner.  The family wishes to invite you to a celebration of life service. Visitation will be Wednesday, April  3, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dermitts Funeral Home, 306 West Main Street, Leitchfield, Ky.  Visitation will continue Thursday at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Rabbit  Flat General Baptist Church, 4754 Rabbit Flat Road, Caneyville, Ky.
