Richard Alan (Dickie) Casey

Richard Alan (Dickie) Casey, 73, of Beaver Dam, passed away April 13 at the Heartford House in Owensboro Kentucky. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, May 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Richard Darrell and Anna Rhea Blankenship Casey who survives.

 

Having inherited a passion for music in the Casey family tradition, he founded Wolf Creek Music, through which he pursued his talent for singing, playing a variety of instruments, songwriting and arranging. He was proficient in playing all stringed instruments, including guitar, mandolin, banjo, and steel guitar, as well as piano, organ, harmonica, and French horn. Early in his music life, he played with various gospel groups, including The Young Believers, The Roy Loney Singers, Beech Creek Revival, Christopher, and General Delivery. His happiest time in playing music was in his later years when he played with members of his Casey family along with his wife, Cindy.

Possessing an in-depth knowledge of the Bible and history of Bible times, he had preached at numerous local churches, including Union Grove Church and served as pastor of Beaver Dam Community Church, now called The Word.

Having a love of motorcycles and motorcycle riding, he was a member of Soldiers For Christ. He also had a talent for painting in oils and watercolors.

He retired from Commonwealth Community Bank, having served as an officer in the Hartford and Fordsville branches.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cindy. Also surviving are his four daughters, Winter (Paul) Bratcher, her twin son and daughter, Derek and Kacey (Grant) Todd, and her grandchildren, Calvin, Caroline, and Clark; Heather Casey and her sons, Justin (Jessica)

and Jarrod, her daughter, Jamie Rhea, and grandchildren, Jack, Jace and Jensen; Amber Casey, her daughter, Amelia, son, Dylan, and grandchildren, Carson and Coleson; and Britney Moore and her son Elijah; his stepson, John David Vaught, his three daughters, Sarah, Becky, and Taya, and son, David. Also surviving in addition to his mother are his sisters and brother, Shirley Walters, her stepdaughter, Tracy Vaughn and stepgrandchildren, Abby and Cory; Kerry (Ruth) Casey and his son Brian (Trish), and Gina (Chris) Givens and her son Colton. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dixie Lee Casey.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at The Word Church, Veller Drive in Beaver Dam with visitation from 10 AM until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
