Michael D. White Sr.

Michael D. White Sr., affectionately known as Mike to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Born on October 18, 1953, in Bowling Green, Mike lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community. 

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jennifer Embry White of Morgantown, KY, whom he married on October 1, 1976. Their loving union brought forth two children, Michael White Jr. (Christy) and Leslie Meyer, both of Morgantown, KY. Mike's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his two cherished grandchildren, Carter Franklin and Caine White. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Jim Cartwright of Morgantown, KY; his brother, Allen White (Abby) of Scottsville, KY; and his four sisters, Lisa Sowers (Steve) of Scottsville, KY, Cynthia Barrow (William) of Morgantown, KY, Felicia McLean (Bob) of Bowling Green, KY, and Tracey Stephens (Gary) of Bowling Green, KY, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss his presence dearly.

Preceding him in death were his father, David Brown White, and his mother, Marjorie Taylor Cartwright. Mike's early life was shaped by the values and education he received at Butler County High School, where he graduated with the class of 1971. These formative years laid the foundation for a man who would become. Mike was a man of deep faith and served as a member and elder at Morgantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His commitment to his beliefs was evident in the way he lived his life and the love he showed to others. He was also an active member of several organizations, including Cassia Lodge #272, Rizpah Shrine, Butler County Shrine Club, and he was honored as a Kentucky Colonel. His professional life was marked by a successful career as a carpenter with the Tennessee Valley Authority, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Those who knew Mike will remember him for his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and generous spirit. He had a unique ability to connect with people, whether it was over a cup of coffee at local restaurants or through a phone call just to check in. Mike's interests were as warm and inviting as his personality. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Mike's enjoyment for music and social gatherings was well-known, and he could often be found enjoying a music concert or engaging in lively conversation with friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Monday, April 8, 2024 at 12:00 pm with Bro. David Hocker and Jaret Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Garden where his family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Masonic Rites being conducted by Cassia Lodge #272 on Sunday at 7:00pm . Visitation will also be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 9:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children Medical Center in Lexington 110 Conn Terrace Lexington, KY 40508.
