Madison “Maddie” Elaine Cardwell, age 20, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Warren County, Kentucky on September 25, 2001.  She was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church.  Maddie was a Customer Service Representative for Old Dominion Freight Line in Bowling Green, Ky. and was a 2019 graduate of Butler County High School.  She was a member of the Butler County Lady Bears Basketball Team.  Maddie was a light to many that knew her, to know Maddie was to love her.  She touched many lives by being a good friend, sister and daughter. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Tommy and Redell Cardwell; great grandfather JL Law and great grandmother Peggy Benfield.

Maddie is survived by her parents Chad and Leslie Skaggs Cardwell of Morgantown; sisters Callie Cardwell of Bowling Green, Gracie, Chloe and Carly Cardwell of Morgantown; brother Clayton Cardwell of Morgantown; grandparents Doug and Connie Benfield of Morgantown; grandfather Ray Skaggs of Morgantown; great grandparents Lois Law of Bowling Green, Bill and Helen Addison of Elkton, Jennings Benfield of Lincolnton, NC; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.   

The funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Woody Moore and Bro. T.J. Howard officiating.  Burial will be held in the Big Muddy Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
