Lewis Newton

Lewis Newton, age 80, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (August 27, 2015) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on May 30, 1935 in South, KY, the son of the late Everett and Myrtle Heath Newton.

He worked as a forklift operator for Universal Concrete Pipe Company for 39 years, and was a member of Teamsters Union, Local 89. Lewis enjoyed farming, loved his family, and loved all children. He was an honest and hard-working man. Lewis was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille Lee Newton of Leitchfield; three sons, Roger Newton of Lebanon Junction, Mark Newton, and Marvin Newton both of Leitchfield; five brothers, Jimmy and Lawrence Newton both of Leitchfield, Paul Newton of Elizabethtown, Tommy Newton of Butler County, and Earl Newton of Louisville; two sisters, Ruth Ann Meredith of Hardin County, and Judy Haycraft of Clarkson; five grandchildren, Robbie, Chris, Everett, Mary Ann, and Heather Newton; and six great grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Newton, and a brother, Everett Newton, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (August 29, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Elder Estill Hodge will be officiating. Burial will be in the South Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
