Kirk J. Schmidt, 63, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky. Kirk was born November 3, 1950 in Manhattan, New York to the late Ernest and Fannie Goodman Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt retired from teaching in New York. He came to live in Kentucky because it reminded him of Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sonja Schmidt.

Kirk J. Schmidt is survived by 1 daughter: Jennifer Sheridan and husband Robert of Morgantown; 1 granddaughter : Amber Sheridan of Morgantown; 1 grandson Kyle Sheridan & girlfriend Ashley Martin of Morgantown; 1 brother: Mickey Schmidt and wife Karen of Germany; 1 nephew of Bastian Schmidt of California.

Cremation has been chosen and under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.
