The 2016 Butler County Stockman’s Association Cattle Sale is now in the books. It was considered a huge success bringing in $74,634. There were 42 heifers and 4 bulls sold during the annual auction. The average sale price for animals that were sold was just under $1,800. Buyers came from across the state to bid on some of the best breeding stock available in our area. One buyer came from southern Illinois and went home with 3 new heifers for his herd. Farmers that consigned animals to the sale were from Butler, Ohio, Muhlenberg and Edmonson counties.

A.J. Woosley, a local auctioneer with United Country Real Estate, served as the auctioneer for the day. The Butler County Stockman’s Association is made up of volunteers that want to promote the livestock industry. They have worked since the 2015 sale to make this one a success. Stockman’s Association President Ron Glass and all the board and volunteers work countless hours on this project to bring people to Morgantown, to give local farmers an opportunity to market their animals locally, and to purchase improved livestock for their farms. The sale was held in the Eva J. Hawes Ag. Expo Building at the Morgantown City Park. The Stockman’s Association appreciates all the community support that goes into making the sale a reality and the great working relationship they have with the city.
