Benjamin A Washburn house on Bellview Pike, north of Shelbyville, KY

Benjamin Washburn, a Revolutionary War Veteran from 1777-1781 from a listing the 1840 Revolutionary War pensioners in the Kentucky Census. According to service record # S11696, he served as a Private in Virginia under Captains Jack Roberts, James Purvis and Colonel Francis Taylor. It seems he joined the army when he was approximately 15 or 16 to fight in the Revolution.

Wanda Gaskey 45 years of service at MCRC

Thursday, May 2, was an extraordinary day for one particular employee from MCRC, as well as with past and present employees. The staff and former staff gathered to honor and celebrate Wanda Gaskey's 45 years of service.

Wanda began coming to the facility in second grade, as her mother worked there, and it stirred something in her heart—something extraordinary, so unique that she began her career there at 17.

Congressman Brett Guthrie hosted the 2024 Congressional Art Competition Awards Reception on Monday, April 22nd, 2024 at the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Center at 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time.  Congratulations to the following winners:

Butler County Chapter NSDAR Community 2024-25 Literacy Challenge

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR once again received awards from the Kentucky Society DAR Library committee for the group’s literacy efforts. Chapter members were recognized for completing books from last year’s approved list, with some members completing the entire list of books.

On behalf of the BCHS Boys' Basketball players, coaches, and player families, we want to say a very special THANK YOU for the tremendous support you offered to us during basketball season and, most recently, during the Regional Tournament and our trip to the Sweet 16!

To our school leaders and administrators, Thank You! You all went out of your way to navigate the systems of KHSAA and work to ensure no one was left out of this experience.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR honors BCHS Senior Lydia Wilcox as Good Citizen

Lydia Wilcox is the 17-year-old daughter of Tonya Wilcox of Morgantown and William Wilcox of Bowling Green. While attending Butler County High School, she has been an active member of the Chamber and Madrigal Choirs and has participated in a multitude of choral events including singing at local churches, sporting events, WKU Honors Choir, Quad State Choir, All State Choir, KSBA annual meetings and the Boys State Basketball tournament at Rupp Arena.
