A group from Richland Baptist Church attended the Faith & Family Day WKU Football game on Saturday, October 1st.  Everyone enjoyed a great afternoon of food, fellowship and football!

Cats are masters of disguise.  It can be very difficult to identify if your cat doesn’t feel well.  Here are 10 signs of illness to watch for:

Inappropriate elimination

Urinating in places other than their litter box or using the litter box more frequently.  Inappropriate elimination can be associated with a variety of conditions including lower urinary tract disease, urinary tract infection, diabetes, and even arthritis.

Mt. Olivet Church held its Annual “Fly-In” Family & Friends Day on September 24, 2011.  J. Vanfleet was the pilot for this day of fellowship.

Robert Joel McKinney was born July 3, 1937 and passed away September 3, 2011. His parents were the late Jewel and Howard Echolis “Eck” McKinney of Aberdeen, Kentucky. Robert was survived by his wife, Christy E. McKinney of Greensboro, North Carolina ;  his brother, Darrel C. McKinney of Aberdeen, Kentucky; his sister Deborah M. Dockery of Morgantown, Kentucky;  and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony “Tony” McKinney.

The Butler County Health Department reminds the public to practice good health habits to prevent the spread of flu at home, work and school.  “As the flu season approaches, we are urging residents to practice good hygiene habits, such as coughing or sneezing into their elbows and washing hands often,” said Dennis Chaney, Barren River District Health Department Director.

 Approximately 40 million Americans are age 65 and over, a number projected to more than double by 2030 due primarily to the baby boomer generation. Baby boomers are the post-World War II babies born worldwide between 1946 and 1964. In America, they represent 29 percent of the population. In 2011, the first of the boom reached the retirement age of 65. This group of adults represents an estimated 1.2 million Kentuckians.

James Cardwell and they parented six (6) sons at the home place on Possum Hollow Road in Butler County.

Belmont Christian Academy held their Fall Festival on Thursday at the school.  First, the students were treated to  a free lunch then students from preschool to high school entertained the crowd.  They went through several of their morning songs complete with interpretations.

Bowling Green, KY – “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” a traveling exhibition opening at the Kentucky Museum on Nov. 3, examines how President Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the Civil War — the secession of Southern states, slavery and wartime civil liberties.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5837 Ladies Auxiliary in conjunction with Ms Linda Tyree will again visit the Butler County 4th and 5th grade classes during the month of September promoting the Buddy Poppy Good Citizen program.

Last year, Ms Lois Russ and Ms Jane Eaton-Henderson spoke to them about the “Buddy Poppy” and each student was given a Buddy Poppy a pamphlet on the Buddy Poppy and a requirements list. Ms Linda Tyree explained the requirements, and if chosen, what they would win.
