Lady Bears picks up win against Franklin Simpson

Bears edge Franklin-Simpson 7-6

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County edged Franklin-Simpson 7-6 in the Greenwood Border Battle on Friday, April 26. 

The Bears returned to the win column after suffering five straight losses. 

With the win, Butler County improved to 3-15. 

Mia Thomas started in the circle for Butler County and claimed the win. Thomas pitched four innings and struck out one Franklin-Simpson batter. 

Contributing in the circle, Miley Franzell replaced Thomas and pitched three innings for the Bears. 

Butler County scored seven runs on 13 hits. Thomas (two hits, one RBI), Franzell (two hits, two RBIs), Madison Clark (two hits, two RBIs), Karrington Hunt (two hits), Addison Miller (two hits), Jenna Tomes (one hit, one RBI), Lydia Brown (one hit, one RBI) and Parker Willoughby (one hit) each delivered offensively for the Bears. Clark legged out a triple while Hunt doubled.  

Butler County is scheduled to host Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District softball game at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 29. 

 

Butler County drops district game to Edmonson County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County came up short as Edmonson County held on to win 5-4 in nine innings in a 12th District softball game on Thursday, April 25. 

Miley Franzell pitched for Butler County and suffered the loss in the circle. Franzell logged three strikeouts over nine innings. 

Butler County scored four runs on eight hits. Franzell (one hit), Madison Clark (two hits, one RBI), Taylor Smith (two hits), Addison Miller (one hit, three RBIs), Parker Willoughby (one hit) and Karrington Hunt (one hit) each delivered offensively for the Bears. Providing a lift at the plate for Butler County, Miller homered.  

Butler County is scheduled to visit Edmonson County for another 12th District matchup on Monday, May 6.
