Douglas Daugherty
Douglas Daugherty, age 89 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Douglas and his twin brother Wilbur were born September 7, 1922 in the community of Banock. His parents were Enos and Audrey Howard Daugherty. He was preceded in death by Wilbur and his oldest brother Kenneth. Douglas is survived by his brother Chesley and wife Connie of the Banock Community.
Douglas was a retired school teacher who taught at Morgantown Elementary. He earned his teaching degree at Western Kentucky State Teachers College. He was a member of Kentucky and Butler County Retired Teachers Association. He served in the US Army Air Corps, European Theater during WWII. He was a long time member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church and church treasurer for 15 years.
Douglas was most known for his knowledge of genealogy research and study. He has lived at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center for six years which he enjoyed very much due to the number of people who often stopped by to visit and ask genealogy questions about their family. He not only had a store house of knowledge about the Daugherty's but of many other Butler County people.
He took great pride in visiting and sharing information with his niece and nephews; Dennis and wife Sue Lawson Daugherty and son Sean of Russellville, KY, Carl Daugherty of Banock Butler County, KY and sons Jared and Grant. JoAnn Campbell and husband Stewart of Marietta, GA, their children Mandy of Atlanta, GA and Jonathan and wife Jenny of NY, NY and Patrick and wife LeeAnn Gillon Daugherty and children Chelsea, Van and Alex of Banock, KY.
Funeral services will be held at the Mt Vernon Baptist Church Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Brian Talley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 1:30 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com.
