Warren RECC Celebrates 80 Years of Service to the Community

May 29, 2018 (Bowling Green, KY) This year, Warren RECC will celebrate 80 years of service to South Central Kentucky with events throughout the service territory during the month of June.

In 1936, Congress passed the Rural Electrification Act, providing long-term funding for rural electrification. By 1938, enough signatures had been collected in Warren, Simpson, and Edmonson Counties to guarantee the required 3 members for each mile of power line, and on March 31, 1938, Warren RECC’s first Board of Directors signed the Articles of Incorporation.

Eighty years later, Warren RECC’s service territory includes 8 counties in South Central Kentucky, over 65,000 member-owners, and over 5,000 miles of transmission lines. Thanks to outstanding growth in South Central Kentucky in recent years, WRECC is now one of the largest providers in the TVA area.

“Warren RECC is committed to the 7 cooperative principles that define our business model. Paramount among those principles is the fact that we are dedicated to our community and owned by our members. Today, we are taking the opportunity to celebrate our history and thank our members for their outstanding support over the last 80 years,” said W. Scott Ramsey, President and CEO of Warren RECC.

Warren RECC will host 80th Anniversary celebrations at each of their offices in the month of June. Events will include food, informational booths, and family friendly entertainment. Prize drawings and a free gift will be available for Warren RECC members, while supplies last. All celebrations will take place from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at the District Office Locations.
