Traffic stop leads to seizure of drugs, cash

FORDSVILLE, Ky. — A traffic stop in Fordsville led to the arrest of a Morgantown man for drug trafficking and other charges.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 16, around 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening, the KSP conducted a traffic stop in Fordsville Troopers identified the driver as Michael C. Whitsell, 33, of Morgantown, Kentucky.

Through the investigation, the KSP found out Whitsell had an active parole violation warrant. He was also driving with a DUI suspended license. Troopers found Whitsell to be in possession of nearly one and a half pounds of crystal methamphetamine, one ounce of marijuana, around $5,000 in cash and other related drug paraphernalia.

Whitsell was arrested and charged with

1. First degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

2. First degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

3. Trafficking in marijuana

4. Possession of marijuana

5. Possession of drug paraphernalia

6. Operating on a DUI suspended license

7. Careless driving

8. Vision/windshield obstruction

9. Service of warrant for parole violation

Whitsell was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.
