State Farm Insurance: New Location, New Agent

State Farm Insurance held a ribbon cutting for the new building on Friday morning. The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a cookout of hamburgers and hotdogs in the parking lot. There were several community members in attendance, including Mayor Phelps and some members of the Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony was put on to celebrate the move from the previous storefront location at 811 S Main St, to a unit at the end of the strip closer to the road. “[That’s what I hoped, that] it would make it more visible.”Baker Gardner, recent addition to the Morgantown State Farm team, commented.

The ceremony also acted as an unofficial welcome to Butler County for the new insurance agent Baker Gardner, his wife Cassie, and their young children, Bowen and Nellie. Baker Gardner and his family are former residents of Muhlenberg County. Several of the Gardner’s relatives were also in attendance. “He’s pretty special,” stated the agent’s grandmother, Billie Baker, “I know… he [has] worked really hard.”

The Gardners say they are staying busy getting to know the community, Cassie is the new teacher at Butler County Elementary, and hopes to become more familiar with Butler County in the near future: “Hopefully [we will be] getting [Bowen] involved in sports here, and taking part in different activities… [ We have already been asked] to help out with certain things. First we’ve got to learn a little more about Morgantown, but hopefully we can be involved in those ways. The Catfish Festival, that’s the big thing right?”

The Gardners mentioned looking for a church as another way they wish to be involved in the Butler County community in the near future.

Cassie Gardner also stated: “We’re excited to be here and can’t wait to be more involved, and be a part of Morgantown.”
