Sheriff's Department at full force; SROs in place for school year

Deputies Joe Alford, Heath West, Talon Gary, and Sheriff Scottie Ward

The Butler County Sheriff’s Department is once again at full force with the hiring of one trained deputy and the return of another one from the academy at Eastern Kentucky University.


According to Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward, Logan Milligan was recently hired by the department and will serve primarily as the school resource officer (SRO) at Butler County Middle School.  Milligan has already been trained at the law enforcement academy and has served previously as an officer with the Owensboro Police Department. 


Talon Gary recently completed his 23 weeks of academy training at  Richmond, Kentucky and began working with the department on June 22.  Talon is the son of Mark and Missy Gary.

Deputies Milligan and Gary will join a force comprised of Chief Deputy Heath West and Deputies Chris Reneer, Trey Flener, Joe Alford, Travis McIntosh (SRO at BCHS), Jaman Childers (SRO at MES & NBE), and Bailiff John Jackson
