Senior Band Members Recognized

BCMS Band played the National Anthem

During the Boyce Flener Butler County Marching Festival held on Saturday, September 19th at the Butler County High School 18 senior band members and their parents were recognized. Seniors included:

Name:    Hanna Michelle Gruber
Parents:  Mike and Lynn Gruber
Years in band: 8
Instruments played or positions held:  clarinet, pit
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:
Loudest and most enthusiastic
Favorite Band Memory:  Too many to choose from, band is a memory itself
Future Plans:  Attend college and become an elementary school teacher
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Stay focused, try to take band seriously, but always have fun


Name:    Nancy Anspach
Parents:  Alicia Anspach and Steven Anspach
Years in band: 7
Instruments played or positions held:  clarinet (sophomore year), Alto saxophone (Junior and senior year) , Drumline (6th grade -12th grade)
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:Person that falls the most
Favorite Band Memory:  the drummer playing “bumper cars” going out to the field.
Future Plans: Medical school to become a OBIGYN
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Stay strong it will all be worth it!

Name:    Ava Tuck
Parents:  Grandmother Bonnie Tuck and Johnny Tuck

Instruments played or positions held:  French horn
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band: Injured for 2 years
Favorite Band Memory:  7 years piled into Darrah’s car during band camp to go to Chinese then going and buying $50 of silly string for our prank.
Future Plans:  Attend Western University for physical therapy
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Stay focused, Don’t give up take it seriously but have fun! Be yourself.

Instruments played or positions held:  Clarinet, Bass Drum, pit
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:
Favorite Band Memory: Sophomore year at the Russellville show when Maranda Pierson peed in the urinal
Future Plans:  Go to college and study nursing
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  “Life is a journey to be, experienced not a problem to be solved” –Winnie the pooh

Instruments played or positions held:  color gaurd
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:
Favorite Band Memory: my favorite band memory was during band camp Ashley Mudd ran from a wasp and dropped to the ground to try and kill it
Future Plans:  Go to college and major in chemistry
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Always carry deodorant. And make these years the best of your life because you don’t get to do it over again.

Favorite Band Memory:  every circle song ever.
Future Plans:  Attend Western University and major in social work
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Don’t have faith in the outcome, have faith in your abilities to get you there.

Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:Dumb- Dumbs for a Dumb- dumb
Favorite Band Memory:  each year many memories that I hold dear. All in band in general is my favorite memory
Future Plans:  undecided
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Try your hardest at all times. Even when you feel like you’re the lowest of the low. Practice and get better, be kind to all and live happy. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Instruments played or positions held: clarinet
Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:Became principle of clarinets in concert band for 2 years
Favorite Band Memory:  I have so many, but meeting my boyfriend is one, meeting new people and spending time with old friends, becoming the pasty princess for a few and Nancy Anspach never failing to fall once a year.
Future Plans: Go to WKU and Major in forensic science and possibly minor in animation.
Words of advice for the underclassmen: Quoting lion king “Remember who you are” the world will want you to be like everyone else, but don’t mold into the system become the new one, love yourself and others will follow, also you need to always…PRAISE THE SUN!

Favorite Band Memory: trying to plan a senior prank, running in the dollar store holding 26 cans of silly string and asking for more and getting weird looks from the workers.
Future Plans: Go to Western and become a child psychologist

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  “we keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps lading us down new paths” – Walt Disney


Name: Noah Bryant

Favorite Band Memory: singing “never gonna give you up” in the changing room
Future Plans: Undecided
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Band is fun enjoy it while it lasts

Favorite Band Memory: Watching some people cry because Ausbrooks was “arrested” during band camp. Robbie Johnsons burst of laughter when the cops took him
Future Plans: Go to college and major in nursing
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  “open different doors. You may find a you there that you never knew was yours”

Favorite Band Memory: every time I run into a sign at a competition that’s been ever year
Future Plans: Attend WKU, but not sure about majors
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Band is something special so from your freshmen year to your senior year enjoy every moment. JUST DO IT!

-wku honors band 2 years
-Distinguished soloist 3 years
Favorite Band Memory: Saxophone dance sessions and constant, fun teasing
Future Plans: Attend WKU, major in either theater or music
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Smile. It seems simple, but its one of the most powerful things you can do. Smile and chase happiness, and youll make the world a better place.


Name: Kimberlea Ferrell

Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:Dum dum awards for the flute section
Favorite Band Memory: I loved every moment in band. But if I have to choose one moment, id say the senior silly string war at band camp
Future Plans: Go to college and figure out what to do with my life. Possibly major in criminology.
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Be kind to others. Make every moment count, because four years goes by fast. And in honor of my honorary big brother, keep praising the sun!

-All district ban 7th -11th grade
-WKU honors band 10th and 11th grade
-MSU quad- state honors band 10th grade
-KEMA distinguished soloist 9th-11th grade
Favorite Band Memory: rushing back to the high school after planning the senior prank so underclassmen wouldn’t get suspicious
Future Plans: Attend WKU and study communication sciences and disorders to pursue a career in speech pathology 
Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Practice, practice, practice. Always strive to do the very best you can in all that you do.

Honors/Awards in Band: most improved player in concert band:
Most improved marching player – freshman year
Favorite Band Memory: walking with lucas and noah and lucas ran into a sign. It was priceless
Future Plans: Attend WKU to be in business and financing major
Words of advice for the underclassmen: Band fly’s by, enjoy it while you can. Be yourself make friends because it will be over before you realize it.

Outstanding sophomore
Favorite Band Memory: the time I tricked Jared Corona into walking in on a group of girls changing and he screamed louder than them

Words of advice for the underclassmen: Don’t worry about the little things because life is too short
