Senator Stephen Meredith: Merry Christmas

As we approach the holiday season, I extend warm wishes to each of you and your families and a heartfelt merry Christmas. During your busy schedules, I encourage you to carve out a few moments for family and reflect on the true reason for the season.

With 2024 just around the corner, it's hard to believe how swiftly time has passed since the whirlwind of Thanksgiving. Christmas is upon us, evident in the twinkling lights on trees, the glow of candles in windows, and the anticipation in children writing their letters to Santa.

Here in Kentucky, Christmas unfolds with our own special blend of southern charm. Our hometowns come alive with festive decorations and families unite, merging the warmth of shared moments with the essence of faith. This season is synonymous with giving, presenting a prime opportunity for communities to support those less fortunate.

Community holds a special place in Kentucky, and our acts of kindness define the holiday spirit. Neighbors exchange cookies and families extend helping hands to those in need, embodying the central spirit of faith in God. Please contribute to this tradition by assisting those who may be troubled or have fewer financial means.

Remember those who work during the holidays as we gather with our loved ones. Extend kindness to stressed retail clerks and service providers, and express gratitude for their dedication. A recent poll revealed that a quarter of Americans will work on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day. It's crucial to acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifice of hospital staff, emergency medical technicians and paramedics, police officers, firefighters, and all public servants who keep our communities safe. Our thoughts and prayers should also include the brave men and women in the military, both at home and abroad.

I am grateful for the privilege of serving as your senator. As we partake in church services, family dinners, and cherished traditions, let's remember that this season is where faith, family, and tradition converge, creating a distinctly bluegrass Christmas atmosphere. I wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
