Quarles, candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture, visits Butler County

With the Kentucky General Election less than two months away Morgantown was visited last week by one of the candidates for Constitutional office. Ryan Quarles, candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture, came to Butler County to meet voters.  He visited several places in Morgantown and had lunch at the Farm Boy restaurant.

Quarles brings an interesting background to the Commissioner's race. After growing up on his family's farm in Scott County, Quarles enrolled at the University of Kentucky. Quarles studied international trade at UK and says he will use that background to expand the market for Kentucky grown and manufactured products. Quarles entered the political arena after college and currently represents Kentucky's 62nd district in the State Legislature.

One of the top priorities for Quarles, should he be elected, is lobbying Washington to ease restrictions placed on the agriculture industry by the EPA. He says he also wants to continue the agency transparency put in place by outgoing Ag Commissioner James Comer. He also wants to promote and expand agriculture education, and has pledged to support the rights of gun-owners.

Quarles will continue his tour of the state in coming weeks, visiting both rural counties where agriculture is vital to the economy, and more urban areas. Quarles says that agriculture is important to all Kentuckians, and plans to use his campaign to promote agriculture issues to all Kentuckians.
