Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Recently, I read an article about why people relocate. Some of the reasons mentioned were cost of housing, being close to friends and family, size and type of available housing, and changing jobs. Certainly, people relocate for various reasons.

Thinking about this, I asked friends and family, “If you had no constraints (responsibilities, financial concerns, etc.) to consider, where would you like to live? Their responses are listed below.

-Near Yellowstone National Park or the beach, but I’d want my family to go with me.

-If money wasn’t a factor, I’d have homes in Wyoming, Kentucky, and Florida.

-I would love to travel the world, but Kentucky would probably always be home.

-I guess I would like to try Hawaii.

-Scotland, Italy, or Greece – any of these countries in a small village. Life seems simpler over there.

-I’d want to live in Hawaii for sure. I never get tired of it and the weather is just amazing all year long. The only thing that would hold me back is the distance from my family and the cost of living there. A girl could dream, though!

-I would live somewhere next to the ocean in a tropical climate.

-Somewhere in the mountains with a forest and a bunch of lakes to swim in.

-On a ranch. Horses every day.

-Right where I live now.

-Exactly where I am!

-I would live in a beach house on the coast of South Carolina half of the year. During the other half, I’d live in a cabin in the mountains by a stream or a waterfall. I like the rhythm of the ocean and the changing of the seasons. I’d be a happy woman!

-I’ve never lived anywhere but Kentucky. I love having four seasons. There’s places I’d love to visit. But considering the way this world is, I would probably still live in a small town in Kentucky.

-Everywhere a little at a time….

-Somewhere in the mountains, I think.

-I would still live right here. Why would I want to live anywhere else? If I had to move, I’d move closer to my son, but I’m happy here.

-Honestly, I’d stay here in the country! It’s not busy with lots of people. We have the beauty of nature: the wildlife, the bodies of water, the trees, and the fields. I love the outdoors!

-I’d like to live in western Kentucky, probably Bowling Green, during the warm months so I would be close to family, and then move south for the winter, only being in Kentucky for the holidays.

Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. said, “Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.” If I had no constraints, I would remain in my current residence; however, I might add a cabin in the Smokey Mountain area and a coastal house near a southern beach. Certainly, people relocate for various reasons, but our hearts definitely play a role in that decision.
