Opening Day @Green River Museum

On Saturday, June 3, The Green River Museum and Butler County Park in Woodbury, Kentucky, held its yearly opening event. The historic site is continuously being restored to its peak in the early 1920’s. The Superintendent’s Office is open with photographs and artifacts that focus on the Green River and its impact on Butler County.

The lockmaster's house is open for viewing, and new museum exhibits, including a military display. The Superintendent’s House is also open reflecting the lifestyle of the families who lived there.

Many local artists were also present with many beautiful and unique items including interactive art for children and adults.  Among the group were artist Gail Smrtic, Suzanne Renfrow creating pottery, Barb Gabbard who was spinning, and the Butler County Public Library staff.

Music filled the air from Colin Coots and Kenny Johnson.  They performed many bluegrass and country songs on the front porch of the superintendent's house.

The Museum, located on KY -403, is open every Saturday from noon to 4 PM through the end of September, free admission.
