North Butler Elementary School entry was the winner of the tree contest sponsored by the Butler County Chapter NSDAR. The tree, decorated with the assistance of Mr. Lin from the Confucius Classroom project,   was selected as the Viewers’ Choice from the 60 entries in the 2015 Festival of Trees held this year in the Friendly Furniture building. A host of people enjoyed viewing the trees and children of all ages enjoyed a visit with Santa on Family Night and again on Saturday after the parade.
The chapter would like to thank all those who participated by decorating  a tree or wreath for this year’s festival, Bill and Vicki Freedle and the Butler County Schools staff who made it possible for the elementary students to be able to attend. Thanks also go out to those who made monetary donations to the event.
It is not too early to start thinking about having an entry in the 2016 event. In addition to the businesses and civic organizations that participated this year there were several entries in memory of a loved one. Proceeds from the event go to support the Butler County DAR Scholarship as well as Veterans events and other activities sponsored by the group.
