Miss Kentucky visits Butler County Schools

Miss Kentucky 2016 , Laura Jones, visited four schools in Butler County on March 23.  North Butler Elementary School welcomed Miss Kentucky to their 7:55 morning assembly.  Laura Jones entertained the students with her violin and she spoke about maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

    Miss Kentucky made a visit to Green River Youth Development Center and she encouraged the students to continue to strive to do their best.  Her next visit was to Morgantown Elementary School where she involved the students in naming ways to stay healthy, and she spoke about Kentucky Proud products. Miss Kentucky's last school visit was to speak to the Freshmen and Sophomore girls at Butler County High School.  She told her personal story and answered many questions.  At the request of the students she played three songs on her violin, including her own rendition of "My Old Kentucky Home".
     Following the school visits , Miss Kentucky was invited to attend the Morgantown/Butler County Chamber of Commerce luncheon. She briefly spoke about Kentucky Proud Products and the progress of the Leader in Me Programs in the two Elementary Schools.

    Laura Jones is from Spencer County and is a graduate of Kentucky Christian University. During the Miss America Pageant in September 2016, Miss Kentucky placed in the Top 12 of the 52 contestants and she was selected as America's Choice Finalist.
