Tuesday night, December 13th, the residents and staff of Morgantown Care and Rehab invited the community into their home to visit their live nativity scene.  The event was organized by Devin Dane, Administrator in Training at Signature Healthcare as part of her Servant of Leadership Project.   The night’s festivities included a live nativity scene, live Christmas music, a hot chocolate bar, and plenty of fun and fellowship. 

Several from the community came together to participate in this event including the Butler County Middle School Band, Butler County High School FFA, and New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, which loaned their costumes to the residents to use for the night.  Eight elders were in the live nativity which took place out on the front patio.  The residents took turns dressing up to make sure that they were all able to participate and not be impacted by the weather.  

The night not only consisted of fun and visiting with the residents, but it was also an opportunity for visitors to help others in the community.  As an “admission” to the nativity, participants brought canned goods and gently used coats to donate to the Morgantown Mission. 

Several residents were able to socialize with the visitors, each other, and even farm animals!  Mrs. Daughtery from the Butler County High School along with her students and FFA members supplied the animals for the night which included a lamb, goat, calf, and bunnies.  Shirley Allen commented that in all her years at MCRC she had never seen a cow on their front porch.

MCRC would like to extend a thank you to everyone who came together to help make this event a success.  It was a special night for the residents, staff, and visitors.  All are encouraged to come by and visit!
