MCRC Hosts Block Party!

Elders, Joan Jones & David Woosley are just clowning around!

There were delicious burgers and hotdogs and lots of fix’n’s on the side for Morgantown Care & Rehab’s annual Block Party on August 28th. Just a few weeks ago, in appreciation for the great work of all our stakeholders, we celebrated with good food and fun. Stakeholders were encouraged to bring their families and kids and all of them enjoyed the face and hair painting, and of course the inflatables!

We started the evening with music that many of our residents enjoyed dancing to. You’ve never seen anyone “whip and nae nae” quite like the residents at MCRC! There was fresh popped popcorn that was a great snack before dinner along with delicious cotton candy for everyone to enjoy. The Sno-Shack was also on hand and it was easy to see how satisfied the crowd was because everyone’s tongues were brightly colored from the shaved ice flavors!

Stakeholders, Jordan West, Imarra Imarigny, & Debra Jenkins, enjoying the food!

One of the highlights of the evening was the live-band, “The Skinny Quick Boys.” We had stakeholders and family members dancing in the street when they played! To raise money for our Elder Vacation Fund there was a silent auction on pies that were made by volunteers and stakeholders and lots of prizes that were donated by the community. Over $300 was raised by the auction to benefit our residents. After it got dark we had a very special fireworks show that elicited many “Oooo’s” and “Ahhhh’s” as residents, stakeholders, and families gathered on the front porch.

A very special thanks to Nikki Belcher and all her work in helping organize the event, to all our “grill-masters” who prepared really delicious burgers and dogs, to all those who donated pies and prizes for the silent auction, and of course a special thanks to all the dedicated stakeholders at Morgantown Care & Rehab who tirelessly give of themselves in the great work we all do on behalf of our residents.
