Lady Bears wrap up regular season play

MORGANTOWN — Butler County was limited offensively as Daviess County pulled away to win 61-36 in a girls' high school basketball regular season finale on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 16-13.

Daviess County improved to 21-7 after notching the win. 

Butler County faced a deficit in each quarter.

Visiting Daviess County led 37-14 at halftime.

Ann Marie Skaggs scored 14 points to lead the Lady Bears. Skaggs was the only Butler County player to reach double figures.

Taylor Leach and Addison Miller scored seven points apiece for the Lady Bears. 

Butler County received scoring from seven different players. Ava Wilson (four points), Karrington Hunt (two points), Carley Cardwell (two points) and Isabella Easley (two points) accounted for Butler County's additional scoring. 

Butler County is scheduled to meet Edmonson County in the semifinals of the 12th District Girls' Basketball Tournament at Grayson County High School at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26. 

 

 

 

RUSSELLVILLE — Remaining in the win column, Butler County beat Logan County 57-42 on Monday, Feb. 19.

Butler County claimed its fourth straight win, improving to 16-12.

Logan County edged Butler County 6-5 in the opening quarter but faltered. 

Butler County moved ahead during the second period and led 22-17 at halftime.

Extending its lead, Butler County led 40-29 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Excelling offensively and defensively, Butler County shot 52.5 percent (21-of-40) from the field. The Lady Bears shot 50 percent (four-of-eight) from three-point range.

Butler County connected on 11 of 22 free throw attempts. 

Bailey Moore netted 16 points to lead Butler County to the win. Moore made three of four three-point field goal attempts.

Delivering a double-double for Butler County, Ava Wilson scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. 

Accompanying Moore and Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted 12 points.

Eight different players broke into Butler County's scoring column. The other scorers for Butler County were Taylor Leach (five points), Carley Cardwell (three points), Parker Willoughby (two points), Addison Miller (two points) and Karrington Hunt (two points). 

 

 

Butler County 67, Russellville 46: Butler County rolled past Russellville 67-46 on Saturday, Feb. 17. 

Winning convincingly on the road, Butler shot 49.1 percent (28-of-57) from the field. The Lady Bears made two of eight three-point field goal attempts.

Butler County shot 75 percent (nine-of-12) from three-point range. 

Ava Wilson scored 11 points to lead a balanced Butler County scoring attack. 

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Addison Miller, Ann Marie Skaggs and Taylor Leach each netted 10 points. 

Butler County received scoring from nine different players, including Maddie Jones (seven points), Karrington Hunt (six points), Parker Willoughby (five points), Isabella Easley (four points) and Bailey Moore (four points).
