Housing Authority Board meet; updates planned for 2016

The Housing Authority of Morgantown held its monthly meeting in December at the Kent Manor Community Room.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman James Dossey.  Members in attendance included Dossey, Iris Moore, and Pam Staples.  The minutes were approved from the November meeting.  Housing Director Anita Jenkins reported they (the Housing Authority) had a clean audit with no findings.  She also reported that the Housing Authority’s attorney continues to respond to litigation with TLC over disputed property lines.
According to Jenkins, the Dabbs complex is having updates in the kitchens and bathrooms, and residents will not have to be moved out during the project.  Kent Manor and Huff Ingram will receive some updates starting in 2016.
The board approved the Annual PHA Plan, Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy and Policy Changes and Updates. Jenkins and the board reviewed and discussed several of the major changes.
The board approved a one-time two percent employee bonus for the six employees of the Housing Authority.
The Housing Authority of Morgantown operates five sites in Morgantown, Kent Manor, Dabbs, Tuck, Huff Ingram, and West Heights.  There is a total of 180 units with 178 currently occupied.  Fifty percent of the residents are elderly.
