Holy Week services to be held daily at Morgantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church

This week at Morgantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church there will be Holy Week Services every day from noon to 12:30. David Hunt will play piano each day. Speakers are Monday, Darryl Dockery; Tuesday, Raleigh Blancett; Wednesday, Jim Matthews; Thursday, Harold West; and Friday, Murl Gray.

Holy Week this year began on Palm Sunday, April 2nd, and will end on Easter Sunday, April 9th. Holy Week commemorates the last days of Jesus’ work on Earth before his crucifixion and resurrection. Beginning on Sunday, April 2nd, Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. On Thursday, April 6th, called Maundy Thursday, Christians commemorate the Last Supper, Jesus’ final meal with his apostles before His crucifixion. Holy Saturday, April 8th, commemorates Jesus body resting in the tomb. The week culminates on Easter Sunday, April 9th, with a celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.

Belmont General Baptist Church will present The Great I Am Easter Cantata all weekend - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -  at 7:00 p.m. nightly. The event is free and the community is welcome.

Morgantown United Methodist Church will present "I Will Rise", an Easter cantata, on Maundy Thursday evening, April 6 at 7:00 p.m., followed by Holy Communion.  The cantata will also be performed on Easter Sunday morning during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Pastor Jim Mathews invites all to attend.

If your church is commemorating Holy Week in some way, email [email protected], to have your service included on Beech Tree News.
