Guthrie Announces Drug-Free Communities Grants to Morgantown, Glasgow

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced that the Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention in Glasgow and the Butler County Drug Free Coalition in Morgantown will both receive Office of National Drug Control Policy “Drug-Free Communities” Support Program grants.

The Drug-Free Communities program was established in 1997 to partner with local community coalitions to prevent youth substance abuse. The Glasgow and Morgantown coalitions will each receive $125,000.

“I am proud to announce that Glasgow and Morgantown will receive grants to support our Second District communities in being drug-free,” said Guthrie. “Too many Kentucky families have been devastated by substance abuse, and combatting this nationwide crisis must start young. These grants will allow our communities to team up with parents, schools, and law enforcement to prevent drug use and improve public health. I look forward to seeing how these grants will improve our communities.”
