GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Lady Bears defeat LaRue County

HODGENVILLE — Returning to the win column, Butler County defeated LaRue County 49-35 in an early-season girls' high school basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 2.

After registering the win, Butler County improved to 2-1.

Butler County shot 34 percent (18-of-52) from the field.

The Lady Bears shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the free throw line. 

Dominating inside, Butler County cleared out 48 rebounds. 

Ava Wilson and Ann Marie Skaggs each recorded a double-double for the Lady Bears. Wilson scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. In another storing performance for Butler County, Skaggs netted 11 points and secured 11 rebounds. 

Skaggs was named MVP of the game.

In addition to the two scorers in double figures, Taylor Leach (seven points), Maddie Jones (six points), Bailey Moore (five points), Addison Miller (five points) and Tinslea Belcher (three points) contributed offensively for Butler County in its win. 

Butler County is scheduled to host Apollo for its next game at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4.
