On the evening of Friday, August 7, 2015 the Butler NJROTC program held their annual freshman picnic from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the City Pool.  This event was put on by the ROTC instructors, Major Redmond and Chief Melton who also supplied snacks and drinks. The point of the Freshman Picnic is to give the incoming cadets a chance to become acquainted with their fellow cadets.  Many cadets had a great time, as shown by what one of our seniors, Caden Cardwell, called a “Great way to have a good time with all of your ROTC friends”.  Additionally, our XO (2nd in command of the unit) stated that this event was “A great way to begin the New Year”. Overall, everyone saw this as a fantastic beginning to this coming school year.
