Tristan Elmore was raised in Butler County, KY, a rural county that is not quite half-way-between the cities of Bowling Green and Owensboro. He is pursuing a degree in Wildlife Management.

Tristan chose to attend EKU because EKU has the most elite wildlife management program in the state. He said “If a person looks at Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources staff's educational background, they will realize that many of the staff are EKU wildlife management alumnus.”

He also chose EKU because he was fortunate enough to be offered a considerable scholarship through the university. “Plus, when I toured the campus for the first time and spoke with my advisors, I felt like everyone was on board and wanted to help me be successful, unlike at other universities I had toured, where I felt like I was merely being processed.”

Tristan is heavily involved with the student chapter of The Wildlife Society (TWS). “Being involved with TWS has given me the opportunity to work closely with wildlife biologists while getting hands-on experience enhancing wildlife habitat, collecting data from harvested game animals, and even hosting education and outreach programs.”He is also active in the National Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the College of Science Dean's Advisory Board. Tristan also serves the community as a volunteer with a Boy Scout troop in Richmond. He teaches merit badge classes and helps with the logistics of the meetings.

After graduation, he plans to work as a wildlife technician and pursing a Master’s degree. His long-term goal is to start and operate a wildlife consulting company specializing in private lands and harvestable species. When he’s not studying or taking part in one of his many other organizations, Tristan enjoys being outdoors and fishing, hiking, and camping.
