City of Rochester Receives $7,700 in Area Development Funds

FRANKFORT, KY. (October 19, 2017) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) today announced an Area Development Fund (ADF) Grant of $7,700 to the City of Rochester for the Rochester Park Expansion project.
“I am thankful that these ADF funds were available for expansion of Rochester Park and the improvement to public facilities and sanitation.  These enhancements will yield many benefits to park patrons and citizens for years to come,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo.
Grant funds will assist the city with the cost of purchasing land adjacent to Rochester Park in order to address sewer issues for the park.  Rochester needs to purchase land adjacent to Rochester Park in order to install bathrooms and sewer lines.  Currently, the park only has a septic tank, which leads to occasional flooding.  In order to provide the community with a clean and sanitary park, the septic tank needs to be replaced with sewer lines.
"These much-needed funds will provide necessary improvements to the Rochester Park’s restroom facilities and sewer system,” said Sen. C.B. Embry. “I appreciate the City of Rochester leaders seeking these funds and DLG for realizing the value of investing in these improvements."
“The Rochester Park expansion project is a real value-added investment for the community.  I am thankful to DLG for these ADF grant funds that will be put to good use,” Rep. Jim DeCesare.
Established in 1976 by the Kentucky General Assembly, the ADF Grant program exists to fund community and industrial development projects.  This project was approved by Barren River Area Development District board of directors before being submitted to DLG for final approval.
