Butler County standout Neighbors inks with Brescia to run cross country

Cross country and track and field standout Olivia Neighbors signed a letter on intent to play at Brescia University Monday.

Butler County High School track and cross country standout Olivia Neighbors started a new chapter Monday afternoon when she signed a letter of intent today to play at Bresica University. 

Family, friends and long-time coaches were on hand to watch the veteran BCHS athlete sign her commitment to compete at the college level.

Neighbors will leave a legacy behind when she graduates in May. She competed at state in cross country all six years of her career. She qualified in state competition in track and field in both the 2013 and 2015 seasons. Neighbors also holds the the school record in the 3200 M with a time of 12: 58--a record she rewrote three times over the course of her career.

“It’s really good because at first I didn’t think I’d .. I wasn’t even intending to break into it at first,” Neighbors said. “It just kind of happened. So it was just something I had to keep working on to keep breaking it. I broke three times I think over the last couple years. It’s definitely something I had to keep working at.”

Brecia University is located in Owensboro and competes in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
