Butler County School Nutrition Program Engages Students

NBES students excited for the taste test

The Butler County School Nutrition Program has taken the initiative to involve students in helping plan district menus. Taste tests are being performed at all schools with a small consortium of students in order to evaluate new menu items to determine what will be included on the winter menus.

Students completed taste test evaluations to voice their opinions about menu products. The students that were selected to participate enjoyed the opportunity to play a role in planning the school menu.
The spring semester will allow students the opportunity to participate in additional taste tests and online surveys about the current menu options. “Our goal is to be compliant with the school nutrition guidelines while simultaneously offering a variety of foods that our students enjoy and request”, states Kaitlin Harrison, School Nutrition Director for Butler County Schools.

World School Milk Day was celebrated at Morgantown Elementary on November 10th. “Rachael the cow” entertained the students and every child that drank milk received a WSMD sticker.
