Butler County man arrested after female found in ditch

Two people were arrested after an unresponsive female juvenile was discovered in a ditch in Ohio County.

According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police, on Thursday, Sept. 3, around 10:20 a.m., the KSP Post 16 in Henderson received a call from a utility company about an unresponsive female in a ditch on State Route 2713 near the Butler County line in Ohio County. Upon arrival Troopers found a juvenile female in medical distress, lying in the ditch on the side of the road.

During the course of helping her, it was determined the female juvenile was dropped off at this location in a black 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by another juvenile male. The female juvenile was transported by Ohio County EMS to Bowling Green Medical Center for a non-life threatening medical condition.

Upon further investigation, Troopers later found out the truck the juvenile male was driving was reported stolen by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office. Troopers found the truck around 2 p.m. in the 100 block of Dexterville-Oak Ridge Road in Butler County and conducted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle.

The driver, identified as Cody J. Swift, 20, of Morgantown, was arrested without incident, transported, and lodged at the Butler County Jail. Swift was charged with receiving stolen property valued $10,000 or greater and operating on a suspended or revoked drivers license.

The male juvenile was riding as a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the stop. He was also arrested without incident and was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was transported and lodged at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.

The KSP was assisted in its investigation by the Barren County Sheriff’s Department and the Ohio County EMS.
