Butler Co. Retired Teachers Filling School Supply Needs

Fred Tate presents school supplies to Family Resource Center.

Inspired by fellow retired teacher, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, Butler County Retired Teachers Association members collected essential school supplies this month and will collect again in December for the Family Resource Center to give students in need the right tools for school. Dr. Andrus founded the National Retired Teachers Association in 1948 and AARP ten years later with the vision of service to others. Taking advantage of a match grant funded by AARP-KY and KRTA, the Butler County Retired Teachers Association launched their effort in that same spirit of service for the students of Butler County.
Fred Tate, BCRTA president, said the organization is committed to giving back to the community. "It's been a pleasure to work with the Family Resource Center and witness the many ways in which their work has had a positive influence on their students," Mr. Tate said.
