Bears split district series with Edmonson County

MORGANTOWN - Butler County earned a split in its latest two-game 12th District baseball series with rival Edmonson County.

On Wednesday, host Edmonson County blanked the Bears 10-0.

But Butler County avoided being swept in the 12th District baseball series.

The Bears outlasted Edmonson County 3-1 in Morgantown on Thursday.

Butler County 3, Edmonson County 1: Warren Cameron pitched a two-hitter to lead host Butler County over Edmonson County 3-1 in a 12th District baseball game on Thursday.

With the win, Butler County improved to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the 12th District.

Edmonson County dropped to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the district with the loss. 

Cameron allowed only two hits and one run while striking out 11 over seven innings on his way to earning the win.

Edmonson County pitcher Jacob Vincent took the loss. Vincent allowed three hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings.

Gage Ward paced Butler County at the plate, finishing 2-for-2. 

Cameron, Parker Rice and Duane Daniels provided one RBI apiece for the Bears in the district triumph.

The Bears outhit Edmonson County 5-2. 

Butler County overcame three errors in the field to claim the win. 

 

Edmonson County 10, Butler County 0 (5 innings): Host Edmonson County outhit Butler County 13-2 and pulled away to defeat the Bears 10-0 in five innings in a 12th District baseball game in Brownsville on Wednesday.

Edmonson County set the tone early when Luke Lindsey homered in the first inning. The Wildcats led 2-0 at the conclusion of the first inning and gradually puled away for the district win.

Lindsey, Logan Minton, Tanner Woodcock and Preston Dunn led Edmonson County with two hits apiece. 

Caleb Beasley and Landon Cardwell provided one hit apiece for Butler County in the loss. 

Minton earned the pitching win. He worked a complete game, allowing two hits and zero runs over five innings while striking out three and walking one.

Butler County pitcher Parker Rice took the loss. Rice went four and two-third innings, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits while striking out six.

Each 12th District baseball team committed one error.
