It is reported that 45.8% of adult Americans have used a prescription drug in the last thirty days.  Some are used legally, but some are not. At least 16.3 million people use prescriptions each year with an estimated 3.7 million of those people misusing them. A large percentage of the misuse is accredited to pain killers and sedatives. Studies show that 52 million Americans over the age of 12 have misused prescription medication at least once in their life.
