Barren River's Silver Bells Project Underway

The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman is hosting the third annual “Silver Bells Project” during this Christmas Holiday. The project is looking for sponsors to provide holiday gifts to residents living in 4 different Personal Care Homes. The majority of residents do not family living close by and are often overlooked by other community programs hosting holiday gift giving.

Sponsorship is easy. You can donate $10 or more to help with the purchase of items from the residents personal wish list; purchase a gift from a wish list or bring in $10 worth of various items to be given as gifts. Gifts requested most by residents are: new socks, gloves, lotions, costume jewelry, snack foods, quarters, stamped envelopes with writing paper, phone cards, Kleenex, microwave popcorn, ski caps, hairbrushes and barrettes, search-a-word books, trinket boxers, pencils and pens.

You may stop by our office located at 1700 Destiny Lane or call 842-7587 between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM to select a Silver Bell. For persons calling outside of Bowling Green, call 1-800-355-7580. Please bring gifts or donations to the Ombudsman office no later than December 16 so items can be purchased and/or gifts can be delivered in plenty of time before Christmas. Gifts do not have to be wrapped but gift paper or gift bags would be greatly appreciated.

The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is an advocacy program that provides services to residents residing in long term care facilities. The program seeks resolution to quality of life and quality of care problems often experienced by residents. The program also works to educate residents of their rights and helps to protect those rights.
